ECOVILLAGE
Fred is engaged in contributing Land Planning and Architectural Design for EcoVillage Charlottesville. He shares the collective vision and endeavor to help nurture the ecovillage community, by manifesting a new state-of-the-art environmentally conscious and replicable model for the region and world at large.

BACKGROUND
Fred is the principal of Oesch Environmental Design, a Design/Build firm currently specializing in ecovillages and sustainable communities. He has designed Master Planning, Architecture, Interiors, Furniture, and Fine Art for more than 35 years. His specialty is healthful, energy efficient, alternative building, inc., solar design, timber frame, straw bale construction, earth sheltered structures, living earth roofs, and natural environmental control systems. Fred has technical experience, teaching, and management of human and material resources; encompassing the full range of design disciplines. Conducting research on Environmental Design and lecturing at universities in the U.S. and Europe, he has practiced Environmental Design, Construction Technology, and Product Design. He has also developed internationally marketed furniture and architectural software. Fred's projects have been featured on Home and Garden Television, and in numerous books, newspaper, and magazine publications. Fred received the Virginia Sustainable Building Network Green Innovation Award for the Best Single Family Residential Project, and the Green Innovation Award for Best Green Designer. He is currently completing a new book titled, "Symbiotic Living: Elements of Timeless Design & Building Solutions".
